It's got so common in Japan.
This is called "ECO-Bag" in Japan.

This is my "ECO-Bag" which I've been using for more than 5 years.
You can always find this sort of firm shopping bag at 100yen stores.
Or it could be some plastic bag you get at supermarkets.

And do you know what happens if you bring your "Eco-Bag" at supermarkets?

If you bring your bag to take what you bought to your home, it means that the store doesn't have to give you a plastic bag.

Thus, the most common story is that you'll get 2yen discount from your total amount.
Or you'll get extra 2 points on your point-card.

Well, 2yen is not a lot.
It's still not a lot even if you shop 5 times a week.
But still, I usually bring my "ECO-Bag" in my purse and get 2yen discount.

It's not only for the discount but also not to have too many plastic bags at my house.

I use the supermarket's plastic bags for my garbage bag.
But I cannot spend as many plastic bags as I get If I get one or two pieces of those everytime I shop.

I'm not sure how good it is in actual ecology wise, but I'll still bring my "ECO-Bag" like my husband does.
When I don't use my "ECO-Bag" is when I'm running out of garbage bags at my house.

Be sure that you'l not get any discount at convenience stores even if you refuse a plastic bag.
